The confident interior sketch: SKetch to scale | Live via zoom | October 1, 2026 | 4:30pm PT, 7:30pm ET
how to sketch a living room in 60 minutes
without a 3d program or a design degree
The shortcut interior designers use to turn a guess into a decision, live, in one hour.
|IDEAS ON Paper
Three Meetings for One Decision
It takes three meetings to approve one decision, because nothing gets settled the first time.
This class tests the room on paper, live, in the meeting. What took three meetings now takes one.
You Second-Guess the idea, With No Way to Check
Without sketching, an idea stays a feeling in your head.
This class gives you a way to sketch it, test it and re-sketch it before you commit.
You can see what works before a client sees it.
You've Been Waiting for "Time to Practice" That Never Comes
The only path anyone's shown you is years of practice, and you don't have years to spare.
This class gives you a shortcut, taught live in one hour. You get the skill now, not someday.
During The Confident Interior Sketch, we'll cover :
-
A concept sketch shows you the room the way it will actually read, not the way it looks in your head.
Instead of guessing whether an idea holds up, you watch it come together right there on the page.
This is where the changes happen. This is where the real magic happens, because you catch what needs to move before anything gets built or shown to anyone.
You walk out of every project trusting the direction you chose instead of hoping it was right. It's the same tool working designers use to solve real problems in a space.
-
I'll introduce the 3D perspective grid here, and show you how it uses the actual measurements of your space to work out scale and proportion for you.
We'll design a small vignette together, to scale, and decide as we go whether the pieces actually work in the room.
Let's problem solve it together, live. The grid carries the units of measurement for you, so all you have to think about is the design.
And when that's true, everything comes out scaled right, which makes your sketch believable enough for a client to trust it on sight.
-
We'll design on paper using elements and principles of interior design, the same way a working designer already does, just now with a system behind it.
We'll walk through line, balance, and emphasis, and I'll show you exactly how each one applies inside a real space.
This is what ends the second-guessing, because you're no longer relying on instinct alone. You'll carry these into your own work long after class ends, and trust the decisions you make instead of doubting them.
You have a system now, elements and principles, and it's yours to use on every project from here on.
This is not a fine-art class. This is a working designer's sketch class that is fast, intentional, and built for the way you can actually use sketches in your practice.

About Shannin
You're not looking for an art class. You're looking for a hand skill that fits the way a real design business actually works, inside real projects, with real clients, on real deadlines.
I'm Shannin. For over a decade, I've taught practicing interior designers how to add hand sketching to their process, so they could become more fully themselves as designers, the kind who can see a shape they love and develop it into something original, instead of reaching for a catalog piece that already exists.
You're getting a teacher with a Bachelor's and Master's in Interior Design and a Bachelor's in Art.
This workshop is built for you if you're already good at what you do. You don't need to learn design. You just need a way to give your best ideas somewhere to go.
I'd love to see you inside The Confident Interior Sketch.
